Stuart Carden is the Associate Artistic Director of City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh.
The director of twelve World, U.S. and Regional Premieres, Stuart has a passion for new work and new voices. He has been fortunate to premiere work by playwrights David Henry Hwang, Yussef El Guindi, Martin Crimp, Shishir Kurup, Charles Mee, Marie Jones, Tristine Skyler and Richard Dresser.
In addition to new work, Stuart specializes in contemporary approaches to classic material, movement driven and imagistic theatre, Irish texts and political drama.
As an instructor, Stuart specializes in Viewpoints theory, directing, physical approach to acting and core acting for Carnegie Mellon University and the Conservatory Program at Act One Studios.
